Once an order has been taken, Jacqui prefers, where possible, to meet the animal and to take photos and measurements of it.
The sculpture is then made by hand, using terracotta clay. Once sculptured the piece needs a minimum of four weeks to air dry. When it is completely dry the piece is fired to 1000 degrees c and is then left to cool slowly.

The last steps are to apply a patina and mount it to a hardwood base.
The full process takes a minimum of six weeks to complete.

How much are they approx. and can you work from photo alone?
Are the statues any good outside?

Hi Deb. I charge $500 for a persons particular dog and $400 to do a generic dog breed as that takes less time. I usually work from photos and some measurements. I mount them on a wooden base which wouldn’t be great in the rain. The sculpture itself is ok in the rain as it’s fired clay, I could play around with a different mount if you were interested. Thanks, Jacqui

Hi Sally, thank you. It’s not rude to ask, although I do hate talking money 🙂 For commissions of a particular dog I charge $500. To do a generic dog I charge $400 as it takes less time. Hope that helps. Jacqui
